How The Right Dog Dental Care Can Help Your Dog Live A Long Happy Life

Most dogs aren’t known for their sweet smelling breath. Then again who could blame them, of course, your breath would smell too if you didn’t have the means to brush your teeth!

Brushing your canines teeth daily will keep your dogs breath smelling good, but a recent study says that it can also be crucial to your dogs health.

Done at Purdue University by Dr. Larry Glickman the study examined the records of over 100,000 dogs. Half of the dogs had gum disease and fifty percent did not. Based on the results of the study, dogs with gum disease have a higher rate of a particular type heart disease.

This was especially true in the case of heart valve inflammation (endocarditis). Endocarditis was found in only .01 percent of dogs that did not suffer from gum disease and in .15 percent of dogs that suffered from stage 3 periodontal disease.

Needless to say, a decent dog dental regimen is important for good dog health.

So, how do you provide your dog with great dental care?

Needless to say, the first step is ensuring that your dog has clean teeth. You want to attempt to brush your dogs teeth each night with dog toothpaste and a dog toothbrush. It’s good to get in the habit of brushing on a daily basis. Daily brushing will aid in reducing tartar buildup and stave off gum disease.

Over time, you will most likely have to take your pet to the vet for a dental scaling. During a dental scaling, the Animal medical practitioner will clean the accumulated tarter and plaque from your dogs teeth.

These days, you can get a range of treats that will aid in dog dental care. A lot of the bones and chewies will help to keep down the accumulated tarter. There are some other treats designed to help freshen your dogs breath.

Being confident that that you supply decent dental care for your dog is important to his general health. Excessive tarter and plaque can cause bacteria to enter your dogs system and this can result in disease in any major organ.

Giving your dog great dental care could help him live a long and healthy life. It’s a small investment of a few minutes each day to brush your dogs teeth and could bring about years of health.
