Find the Right Dog Training Book
If you are trying to find the right dog training book, you might not really know where to begin with all of the options that are available. The unfortunate fact is that many people write books by just throwing together rehashed information instead of coming up with something new. However, there are some books which are full of valuable information if you know where to look.
One of the best places to find a dog training book is by looking online. E-books contain the most up-to-date information because they are so easy to edit. Physical books can go out of date quickly, so finding an online e-book can provide you with instant information that you’re looking for.
Before you choose a dog training book, it is important to consider the breed that you’re trying to train. Because full-blooded breeds have particular characteristics that come with their genetic makeup, it is important to cater the training methods to the breed. What will work for one breed may not work for another.
As an example, Jack Russell terriers were bred to chase foxes which means that their noses sometimes take precedence over their brain. Beagles suffer from the same issue. Therefore, it makes sense to use training methods that are specific to these kinds of dog breeds and can overcome their intuitive sense of smell.
Another thing to think about is the training approach that will be taken. Make sure that you read over the information about the book before you purchase it so that you will know if your going to be comfortable with the training methods supplied.
You also want to know that the author of the book has specific experience in training dogs. You don’t want someone who simply put a bunch of material together but doesn’t really know what they’re doing.
If possible, look into the background of the person who wrote the book to make sure that they have the right kind of training.
Finally, never purchase a dog training book that talks about punishing a dog using physical methods. Punishing a dog is quite different than disciplining the dog. Punishment can harm the relationship between the owner and the dog. You can find the right dog training book by spending some time doing a little bit of research.

This is bang on the money! Different breeds were bred for different things so they need different approaches to training. This is why I created my Jack Russell site and wrote my book on Jack Russell training. If you don’t approach training these little characters in the right way, they will just walk all over you. Literally.
